Research indicates there is a relationship between having regular family meals and the quality of food choices in adolescents. The increased frequency of family meals is associated with greater intake of fruits, vegetables and milk, and a concomitant decrease in fried foods and carbonated beverages. Eating together as a family is also associated with the consumption of more nutrients like calcium, iron, vitamins and fiber along with fewer saturated and Trans fats.
